Hi! R U OK?
How are you?
Today is R U OK? Day. This year, R U OK Day‘s theme is about asking more than just “R U OK?” It’s about going deeper into our conversation. How do we feel when we’re asked if we ok?
We feel heard, understood, especially if it’s some one asking us who we trust!
When we ask someone if they’re ok, we might question, whether it will make a difference?
Imagine you’re having a really bad day. Nothing was going your way, You might feel upset that you could not achieve your goal or you feel let down. But then your friend walks over to you and asks: “Are you ok?” I’m sure you would feel blessed for someone to ask that question. It doesn’t even have to be a question like, are you ok? You could ask: “Hey, how are you?” Is something wrong? A question like that could be a bit less confronting.
How would you like someone to ask if you were ok? Comment bellow.
During the past 3 years, I have visited many schools giving ‘Plastic Free Boy’ presentations. I have witnessed and received positive reactions from many kids and students as they observe another kid making a positive impact on the environment.
First I see the devastated look on the children’s faces when they see how devastating our human Impact is on the environment! It is clear that we as a young generation could feel overwhelmed about that.
But every time I speak in front of kids, no matter if it is one to one or one to five hundred, I always at the end of my speech, inspire kids that each one of them matters, and can make a difference and affect the whole world!
No matter how small. If we all work together as a team, we could move mountains! In fact, we could stop polluting our environment from Plastic Pollution, if we all did our little contribution. i.e. using reusable items instead of single-use plastic
We can all see the devastating impact we have on our beautiful oceans. What if we all asked the same question to each other: ‘How do we feel?” realizing that all of us will suffer the impact of a polluted ocean by it’s declining ability to keep us healthy and strong. Every second breath we take comes from the ocean. Phytoplankton in the ocean is getting blocked up with microplastic. We might as well extend the question to the creatures in the sea: “Are we OK?”
The answer is: NO, WE ARE NOT OK. We NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS.
The solution is in front of us. WE just encourage each other to work together and empower one another to stop single use plastic.
Remember that a question like, are we ok? Could change all of our lives and the WE will make it happen!
